Capture a piece of history…. President Elect Obama’s election and his commitment
to HOPE through CHANGE.
|
This painting captures a very special time of Hope! A portion of the proceeds from
the sale of this poster go to support Habitat for Humanity Detroit and our mission
to construct decent, affordable housing for those in need. The portrait is great
for the office, home, and as a gift for that special someone. Display your HOPE
for the future, your patriotism, your pride and support for the changes that are
coming.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
Thank you. By purchasing this poster you are helping Habitat
for Humanity Detroit and its volunteers bring about change -- Hope. |
Habitat for Humanity Detroit’s mission is to build a community where those who only dreamed
can thrive. Your support will help Habitat Detroit make the hopes and dreams of
homeownership a reality. I created this poster from my oil portrait of Barack Obama
painted early in 2008. I was inspired by the man, the moment and his ideals. The
poster hopefully expresses calm, resolve, thoughtfulness, assurance and hope. It
depicts that moment between idea and action when one pauses to think. The poster
also reminds us of that historic moment when our country changed.

It’s always fun to get together for some quality girl time. Talk to your girlfriends, sisters, coworkers, moms and daughters and plan to spend
a day together hammering for Habitat Detroit. During the month of May an entire house will
be constructed by women volunteers. The Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity
International program that encourages women and girls to have fun and make a difference
by building homes and communities. Over 1,000 Habitat houses have been built by
women crews around the world. Each year 150 or more homes are added as affiliates,
donors and sponsors discover the impact of women volunteers and their resources. What a meaningful way
to celebrate Mother’s Day. Click here to print an application to volunteer. Questions regarding the Women Build, contact Bob Layne at
blayne@habitatdetroit.org or (313) 521-6691, ext. 123
