History:
Since 1986, Habitat for Humanity Detroit has helped to house over 180 families in the city of Detroit. In spring 2002, we celebrated the dedication of our 100th home.
In September 2003, 16 new homes were built during Blitz Build '03 as part of Habitat
Detroit's Building on Faith celebration. The summer of 2005 saw 30 new homes built
in one week during Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005.
Our affiliate is independently governed by our Board of Directors, local Detroit
volunteers who plan our projects, set policy, and manage fundraising. We are one
of over eighty Michigan affiliates and college campus chapters, the largest number
of affiliates in any state.
