Habitat For Humanity - Detroit | Volunteer
Adopt-A-Day Activities | Team-Based Construction
Building Homes - Building Neighborhoods - Building Hope - Building Teams
Whether your company, organization or individual employee group is looking to "build" a better team or participate in a memorable, structured "community service day," Habitat for Humanity Detroit's Adopt-A-Day is a fun - and fulfilling - single day event that offers something for everyone.
Perfect for smaller-sized companies, organizations or departments, this group construction activity enables participants to rally around a common cause, working together in group collaboration activities, helping to revitalize Detroit, and building lasting memories as a team in the process.
Your Adopt-A-Day activities begin with a heart-felt welcome and introduction to the day's activities by a Habitat supervisor, followed by a review of all safety precautions required during the day's activities (because worksite safety is of the utmost importance at Habitat Detroit).
Then, with guided assistance from a Habitat Detroit staff supervisor, your team will work on specific construction tasks of a Habitat Detroit house under construction. Tasks can include anything from installing floor joists or windows, to siding or interior painting. Participants will work as a dedicated team, and will celebrate at the end of the day as they see the tangible results that come from their combined efforts.
Throughout the day, water will be provided along with a boxed lunch. In addition, each Habitat Detroit volunteer will receive a T-shirt, a group photo of their team hard at work, and a Habitat for Humanity Certificate of Participation.
Most of all, your team will help make a difference for a working, low-income family, as they purchase a quality, energy-efficient home in which to raise their family. .
